Dr. Chester has extensive experience in treating children with plastic surgery needs. In addition to her training, Dr. Chester served on the faculty at the Children's Hospital in Washington DC for 10 years. Dr. Chester has the care and compassion to help your child lead a healthy and normal life.

Common problems that children might have which require plastic surgery include:

  • Cleft Lip and Palate - Learn more at the Cleft Lip and Palate Foundation
  • Vascular anomalies including both hemangiomas and vascular malformations.
    • Treatment of these varies according to each patient’s diagnosis and need and can include medical treatment, laser treatment, surgical excision, radiologic treatment or any combination of the above.
  • Hand anomalies such as extra digits, webbed digits, or reduction anomalies.
  • Pigmented birthmarks which can lead to an increased incidence of melanoma.
    • These types of birthmarks should be evaluated by a dermatologist or plastic surgeon. Most instances of pigmented birthmarks will require excision at some point. Tissue expansion is a technique often used in the surgical excision of these birthmarks.
  • Ear anomalies ranging from prominent ears to absent ears requiring new construction from rib cartilage.
